A Tin Side Detector Lamp will safely identify the tin side and the air side of glass. Although hydrofluoric acid works safely on the air side of glass, it will "cook" or "smoke" the tin side, ruining it. It is recommended to always test products on a small area of glass before applying to the window to make sure you won't "cook" the glass. The TS1300 Lamp causes the tin to fluorescence at a frequency that is visible to the human eye. The air side will result in no fluorescence.
