ISSUE TEASER:
This issue of the American Window Cleaner magazine opens with a focus on the I-14 Safety Standards. According to committee chair Stefan Bright, their September meeting in San Antonio, Texas ended with a committee vote to re-affirm the current standard. Reportedly, the new standard won't be radically changed, however, there will be some improvements.
AWC contributor Amber Twist talks about the different kinds of sponges. Synthetic, natural, and as-seen-on-TV sponges each have their pros and cons and are all used for different types of jobs. Twist concludes by saying each cleaner should test all kinds of sponges and come to their own conclusion.
While the mounting problem with scratched glass resulting from fabricating debris has wreaked havoc on many window cleaners, some are finding lucrative opportunities in removing scratches and other damage done to glass. AWC contributor Bob Lawrence recommends all window cleaners get into the glass restoration business.
